Basic Information About StratosphereFairEnough

Launching high altitude weather balloon. A weather balloon lifts a specially designed payload package that is composed of HD cameras, GPS tracking devices, and other science equipment. 


The payload is constructed and attached to the balloon with low-cost materials. The balloon and payload will be launched with SHGM clearance from a site chosen based on wind pattern and predicted landing location. The balloon ascends over 2 hours to a maximum altitude of 100,000 feet where it bursts and allows the payload to slowly descend using a built-in parachute. 


The balloon's location is monitored during its flight by GPS-satellite relay. The payload is located using the GPS device and the HD video and high-resolution still images are recovered from the cameras.Recorded footage will be edited with a chosen theme and subject.

Meaning of Stratosphere

Bacterial life survives in the stratosphere, making it a part of the biosphere. Also, some bird species have been reported to fly at the lower levels of the stratosphere.

The stratosphere is the second major layer of Earth's atmosphere, just above the troposphere, and below the mesosphere. It is stratified in temperature, with warmer layers higher up and cooler layers farther down. This is in contrast to the troposphere near the Earth's surface, which is cooler higher up and warmer farther down.

The border of the troposphere and stratosphere, the tropopause, is marked by where this inversion begins, which in terms of atmospheric thermodynamics is the equilibrium level. The stratosphere is situated between about 10 km (6 miles) and 50 km (31 miles) altitude above the surface at moderate latitudes, while at the poles it starts at about 8 km (5 miles) altitude.
